replaced landline numbers because of their portability. However, the unit is only as good as its battery
life. If you own one that constantly gets drained, then the idea of portability is useless. To increase the
life of your cell phone batteries, you should take good care of it. Otherwise, you will have to spend from
time to time buying a new set for your needs. Here are the different ways on how you can increase the life of
your battery.
Full Charge and Full Drain
 The idea of full charging and draining depends on the type of your cell phone batteries. Generally, there are two types, the
nickel-based and the lithium-based. For new units, initialize the batteries by fully charging them for 16 hours
for nickel-based and fully discharge them before charging again. For the lithium-based, charge it initially for
5-6 hours, but do not allow it to fully discharge. Once you see the sign indicative of low-battery, you can
start charging it again.
Maintain the Cool, Dry Temperature
To increase the life of cell phone batteries, keep them in a cool and dry place. Avoid
leaving your unit under the excessive heat of the sun, like inside the car or placing it beside a hot object.
Doing so may cause not only damage but also even possible explosion. When charging, check the unit if it gets
too hot. If excessively hot, you might need to change your charger. If you are not going to use the phone for a
long period, remove the cell phone batteries from the unit and keep in a dry place.
Clean the Point of Contact
Through time, dirt accumulates in your phone, and the point of contact
between the battery and the phone is not an exception. Using a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol, gently wipe
off the dirt to enhance the energy transfer. Maintain this as a habit at least once every two months to avoid the
dust from interfering with the transmission of power.
Turn Off Unnecessary Features
Another way to increase the life of your
cell phone batteries is by turning off all unnecessary features. Bluetooth, GPRS and infrared connectivity consume a
lot of power. If you do not need them for the moment, turn them off to save on energy. Other features with
high amount of energy consumption are the flash in your camera, vibration and Internet connectivity. By
minimizing the use of these, you can have longer battery life.
