You may have seen advertisements on the TV and in the Internet about these new wireless charging devices. Geeks and gadget-lovers love them and you might be curious about these new devices. Basically, they’re just charging docks and mats that let you charge your battery without connecting any kind of cable.

With all the gadgets that we own, some problems can be unavoidable. One of these is finding the right charger for a certain type of gadget. Most gadgets have their own type of charger. If you have a lot of gadgets, then you probably have that much chargers too. Managing them can be quite a headache. For instance, if you place them all in one place, you can’t just pick the right one out in a matter of seconds. You’ll first have to check the adaptor if that’s for the gadget that you are looking for. If you’re in a hurry, this can be a time waster.

Another problem is that when you use these chargers all at the same time. It’s sometimes unavoidable too. With all the electrical cords all over the outlet, they may become entangled with each other. Especially if you’re the type of person who just leaves the charge in the outlet after charging, chances are they will become more entangled.

These two problems can be solved by using a wireless charger. With this technology, you don’t have to worry about finding the right charger or tangled electrical cords.

Wireless charging devices make use magnetic induction technology. Physical contact between the receiver and the base is all you need to charge your battery. These receivers can either be installed on your gadget or connected through the charging port. Most of the time, you would need to buy the receiver separately for the wireless charger. The receivers can be unique for a specific type of gadget. For example, a Blackberry has a certain type of receiver and you cannot use it with an iPhone or iPod.

The two most famous wireless charging devices in the market are the Powermat and the Palm Pre Touchstone charger. Of course, the latter is only for the Palm Pre and it cannot be used on other gadgets. On the other hand, the Powermat is the universal wireless charger as it is compatible to hundreds of gadgets.
